Gary, Again, thanks for the time and effort. As I said, I am new to Linux, so probably don' t yet understand all the distinctions. I know open source can be modified by others, so was not sure where the problem was as it seemed in the Ubuntu software center. I am trying to learn quickly, as I want nothing to do with Windows 8.
