It doesn't seem to be related to the Atheros Network Adaptor as I suggested before. Though my system becomes more stable not using wireless networking it seems to be a problem caused by system load/ screen refresh. As soon as I start a video in Totem my system hangs after not more than a couple of minutes. Moving the Totem window when playing video even seems to invoke a system hang.
Some of you solved it apparantly by using a different kernel. But when willl we get a real solution/ fix for Ubuntu? This bug still doesn't have any importance, nor has it been assigned to someone. Bug fixing seems to become 'Redmondish' in Ubuntu these days.
