Bug is still present in xubuntu 12.4 beta 2 The middel mouse click on the panel icon will toggle the mute x display but it will not mute the sound. Mute only works on the mixer that is available wehen left clicking on the speaker icon. Toggling the mute icon on the mixer is not reflected on the panel icon.
