There were some changes for hotkeys on Toshibas introduced in the Ubuntu 3.2.0-22 kernel that may be related to your issues, so in addition to testing the upstream kernel please also boot back to an older kernel to see if the keys begin working. You can select an older kernel by pressing and holding the left Shift button immediately after your computer's boot screen disappears. Use the keyboard to select the "Previous Linux versions" item, then select a kernel with a version of 3.2.0-21 or lower (not recovery mode). Thanks!
