This got fixed with latest deja-dup in precise. The problem was that when deja-dup needs root to fully restore files, it couldn't use the user's mounted remote location. So now, we don't use root for such situations. And the restore will fail if the user doesn't have enough permission to write to the location.
A workaround for that is to restore to a new folder instead of on top of original locations. ** Changed in: deja-dup (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876070 Title: Backup cannot be restored on a fresh install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/deja-dup/+bug/876070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
