I still can't get any sound in linux-2.6.22-5-ppc64-smp, using snd-aoa (nor using snd-powermac, for what matters). This is a major bug affecting also linux-source-2.6.22 from my point of view. The last working kernel I can trace back working for me, is 2.6.20-15-powerpc64-smp.
