My system is an HP compaq nx5000 laptop, using the Intel ICH4 chipset. It has a "mute" button, which is constantly lit with the new kernel, indicating that something is muted. I can't unmute this something, neither with the button nor with any ALSA mixer. Furthermore, the button is lit even if everything is unmuted according to the ALSA mixer.
