THIS IS NOT A KERNEL BUG. I repeat: IT IS NOT A KERNEL BUG. Tried a number of kernels available for Ubuntu and other distros. I've even tried 2.4.xx kernel with Slackware 10.2 and had same results (tested the 2.4.xx compatible branch of Open source RTL8180/8185 driver)
