The partition on my hard drive is 60 GB, more than enough space to install Ubuntu. Moreover, I've tried doing the install with the auto partitioner as well as by manually partitioning the hard drive, and I've tried using both the standard install cd and the alternate install cd. I used Debian unstable for 3 years and never encountered a problem like this so I have to admit that I'm a little frustrated now that you are writing my problem off so quickly, especially after I posted this bug 3 months ago!
