Same bug on ubuntu 10.10 amd64, software-center 5.0.3.1.

This appens after some manual package installation (I suspect dropbox or
mendeley)

The application list is also broken on unity, and apps cannot be found
not search on the pannel. Persist after reconstruction of the
application index, using apt-get update and upgrade, nor apt-get -f
install, nor sudo apt-get install 4g8 && sudo dpkg --force-depends -r
libnet1 as found here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#broken-
catalog

The bug appeared on a brand new installation of ubuntu (2days, just
installing my progs)

Here is attached the report of the software-center --debug please note
that I used no proxy and disabled third party packages sources and apt-
get update. After these lines, the terminal is freezed

Please note that, once the command is launched, there is no way of
killing it in the terminal by ctrl-C and the process is not visible in
"top".

Hope it can be useful
