Hrm, so there is indeed a problem with the volume control named "Front" - on some computers, the headphones are affected when you change "Front", on other computers "Front" controls the speakers. I e, you can't make a global decision whether to mute the "Front" control when headphones are plugged in, because you'll screw up either one machine or the other. :-(
