I know glxgears is a dirty word. That's why the test case uses
glxspheres. But the conclusions are the same.

My benchmarks were done without "Force full screen redraws (buffer swap)
on repaint".

Sorry if it seems like I hijacked the bug. I'm just trying to get this
(and similar) bugs resolved as quickly as possible, with minimum
confusion. And that (always) means logging each bug separately.

I believe this bug still matches your original bug description most
accurately.
