The problem with ATI-proprietary drivers (which are recommended by
Ubuntu) and the overall desktop experience is beyond only being a
problem with Flash-videos. The desktop feels slow, unresponsive and the
initial drivers (non-proprietary) which are shipped with Ubuntu 11.10
gives a much more responsive feeling. Even when writing tis text; the
text is rendered much slower than anticipated by normal word processing.
The ATI proprietary drivers should be not be recommended for certain
ATI-cards unless the user experiences improves.
