FWIW: I followed the above, specifically: 1) Edit /etc/default/grub and change:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=off" 2) sudo update-grub My Dell Vostro 1015 with 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04 no longer hangs when the AC power is removed.
