Additionally, does the 2.6.35 kernel allow the laptop to correctly switch between the two video cards depending on the intensity of the video demand or does it simply only power one of the two video cards?
If it does enable the nvidea card to work, is that only after enabling and installing the proprietary drivers? In 10.04, when I enabled and installed the proprietary driver I got a blank black screen and was only able to fix this by reinstalling the OS.
