I'm sorry, but the gnome-settings-daemon does not seem to crash, just "die". I don't have a .crash-file and when I do a 'ps -A' the process seems to be running. Killing it and restart it as sudo works, but it is annoying nevertheless. Any more hints would be appreciated to how I could assist in hunting this one down.
