Or if you can't grab me, try the following:
Download snd-hda-tools from ppa:diwic/maverick, then run "sudo hda_analyzer"
To see if there's sound from the ext mic:
* plug it in
* node 0x1a, VREF should be 80, "IN" checkbox checked
* node 0x17, should point to take input from 0x1a, also make sure the amps are
unmuted and turned up
* node 0x14, should point to take input from 0x17, also make sure the amps are
unmuted and turned up
If you still can't get sound from the ext mic, can you post an alsa-info
with all those things done?
For the int mic:
* unplug ext mic
* node 0x23, "IN" checkbox checked, also make sure the amps are unmuted and
turned up
* node 0x14, should point to take input from 0x23, also make sure the amps are
unmuted and turned up
