Clear solution? Really? How about doing what the desktop
environemnts/window managers do? (Firefox can't handle the [Windows] +
[Tab] or [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [F1] because it's reserved for Aero, or in the
latter case for Linux. How hard it would be to likewise reserve a few
hotkeys? And make it configurable. Show a small icon somewhere - no need
for the full info bar - and let the user enable full-capture on a per
URL basis.)

Writing fancy specifications and waiting for the plugin vendors is
clearly an anti-pattern.
