My house has standard CAB5 ethernet cables and we connect to a hub to a router and then via dsl to the internet. these connections are hardcoded, i do not use dhcp.
the connections to the internet are to two ISP where I (resp. my customers) have my/their webspace. these are the most prominent isp in germany 1&1 and strato.
