It seems that this bug is now present in the previous Ubuntu version. As I said in my previous comment, my card reader that used to work with kernel 2.6.15-27 does not work anymore with 2.6.15-28 on Dapper.
I can make it work by unloading the ehci module. It really seems to be the same problem.
