I have the same problem.  I just (in the last 2 hours) downloaded and
installed Kubuntu 7.04 beta from the ISO, loaded the nvidia-glx drivers
from the 'add/remove programs' and then went to configure my 'graphics &
display' in the 'system settings' area.  I click 'administrator mode',
enter my password, and then all the buttons along the bottom are
disabled.  I found a work around though.  If you drag the resolution
slider around, the ok and apply buttons will enable themselves and you
can then make whatever changes you want.  I haven't actually verified
that the changes are actually made to the xorg.conf file yet though.

Additional info: AMD x2 4400+ 939 with Biostar nforce4 mb and nvidia
6800 AGP and the only update I've installed to the base install of
Kubuntu so far is the nvidia video driver.
