Unable to reproduce in Lubuntu Natty Alpha 3. Please provide more detailed steps to reproduce this issue. A screenshot of the "barely visible" text would be helpful.
Attempted steps to reproduce: (1) Boot Lubuntu (2) Log in (3) Right click on panel (4) Select "Panel Settings" from popup menu (5) In "Panel Preferences" window, set Height to 18 (per bug description) and Icon to 16 pixels (6) Click "Close" button in "Panel Preferences" window. (7) Open several application windows. (8) Text on panel buttons seems readable to me, black text on very light grey is high contrast and font seems suitable.
