I have upgraded both my installs to Ubuntu 10.10 which still froze EXACTLY as the OP described. Upon upgrading the kernel to 2.6.35-27-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 22 20:25:46 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux, I have gone 2d 20H without a freeze! I am still using the acpi=force irqpoll boot options and will continue to do so until I'm completely sure the freeze condition is cured with this kernel. I figure 5 days uptime will do it.
Note: I have NOT been easy on the system, meaning I've done all the things that seem to quicken the freeze, like running gstreamer (With Totem front-end) and or VLC while browsing in Firefox and also plugging in USB devices (Which usually almost guarantees a freeze). I have 3 other computers that have never had a freeze, 2 with 10.10 and one with 10.04. The one that was freezing is a MSI K9N2GM-FIH MB with a Nvidia 8200 Chipset (Which the I strongly suspect has something to do with this bug). So fingers crossed and I will update at 5 days uptime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/627862 Title: USB Mouse freezes randomly but consistently -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
