The fix is most likely in the libraries, but you do not see it if you simply install the new libraries, as the old evince will still use the old libraries (which do not get uninstalled by installing the new ones). By installing the new evince (Maverick and newer) you make the new libraries actually being used.So the fix can be somewhere in libpoppler or libcairo, according to my feelings rather in libcairo.
To test this you would need to rebuild source packages, so that you can test the evince of Lucid with only one of the two libraries replaced. To test the new libcairo for example you need to install the -dev package of the old libpoppler, rebuild the package of the new libcairo, install its -dev p[ackage and then rebuild evince. After having found out which library brings the fix, one would need to find out which change in it performs the fix to finally create a patch for an SRU (stable release update) for Lucid. I am marking this bug as fixed as it is working in Natty (and in Maverick, too). If you (or someone else) have found out more on what the actual fix is, a Lucid task for an SRU should get added. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released ** Package changed: cups (Ubuntu) => cairo (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/715510 Title: Some print jobs fault the copier with 116-357 on Lucid -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
