I'm still having the problem.  I also tried removing all connected
devices, though from the desktop client.  (This is also Maverick BTW).
I also rebooted a few times since then.  But I still can't connect; my
connection status is permanently "Disconnected," my usage meter says 0.0
KB (0.0%), the Devices tab shows "<LOCAL MACHINE>" as the only connected
device, the Connect button is grayed out, and the Restart button does
not have any apparent effect.

I tried running "u1sdtool -q ; u1sdtool -c" but all it does is print
"ubuntuone-syncdaemon stopped."  It no longer opens a login dialog (as
it did just a few days ago).  A "ps -ef | grep ubuntu" shows two
processes:

 * /ubuntu-sso-login started hours ago, around last boot.
 * ubuntuone-preferences does not go away when I close its window.
