Fabio - I have not performed the install you suggested as of yet (i plan on doing that today), but I did install Kubuntu 10.10 onto another machine and it does not have the same issue. If I am not mistaken, the major differences between the two distros (Ubuntu and Kubuntu) is the desktop packages used. Where Ubuntu 10.10 uses the Gnome desktop environment, Kubuntu uses the KDE environment. With both distros patched to the same Kernel version (2.6.35) both exhibit different behavior. Ubuntu freezes on shutdown and Kubuntu shuts down flawlessly every try...
While waiting for your response on the installation instruction I figured I would give this a try to see what would happen especially being a fresh install and patching takes only about 20-30 mins to try and being I wanted Linux on my full size laptop anyway this wasn't a huge waste of time and in my eyes a worthy experiment. I will do the kernel update later per your instruction and post the results of my testing later on today. ~ Ray -- Ubuntu 10.10 freezes on shutdown and restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/677899 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
