Hi Gantry, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and work with us to make Ubuntu better!
I know this is confusing, but you actually need to purge the underlying packages as well: aptitude purge mysql-server-5.1 When you run this, it should ask you for confirmation before removing all databases. You can find all packages that are "removed" but not "purged" with dpkg -l |grep '^rc' You should see something in there like rc mysql-server-5.1 5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1 MySQL database server binaries and system database setup Please purge that package, and if the files are still there, feel free to re-open this bug report with more information. Closing with status Invalid. ** Changed in: mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Can't purge mysql-server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/677231 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
