I started seeing this problem after upgrading to 10.10. According to the message near the end of
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1286002580621+28353475&threadId=7617 it is caused by the server closing the TCP connection to the printer before the printer has finished sending back status information.
