@Dino Could you attach the output from ps as Jamie did? If it starts happening again perhaps you can do the same again during a session you expect to crash?
@Jamie and Dino Could you look again at that file creation time? sudo ls -l /var/run/gdm/firstserver.stamp It should exist and be empty, it's its creation/modification time that is important. It should be created the first time gdm starts at each boot, which is what Jamie reported above. It must not exist before gdm starts. If it is older than the last boot there may be a problem with the /var/run file system. @Jamie That ps.out file floored me. Unless I've misread the code, it looks to me like you and Dino have two different underlying causes for this bug. By the way, I assume anybody who has this bug can log out immediately after first logging in and won't have a subsequent crash. -- X starts on wrong tty: pressing enter after 5 minutes crashes X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625239 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
