Yes, this behaviour still exists with most recent Lucid. Never tried Maverick. It's not a bug, but more of a feature that only cares for photos and not video so it becomes not so user-friendly.
The camcorder i used was a GoPro HD, but i suppose all camcorders are treated the same way.
