Looks like beryl-core is attempting to set a refresh rate of zero for the screen, which would be pretty bad. I can't reproduce here, but I think a temporary workaround would be to unselect 'detect refresh rate' in beryl-settings (General Options), which will cause rate in setRefreshRate to = 60.
