Hi :) As a work-around until this gets fixed i would suggest either having a dual-boot with an earlier version of Ubuntu, (perhaps the 8.04 is easier to find to download?) or to use VirtualBox (or some other virtual machine) to install an earlier version inside your current install.
If you are trying to move someone away from Windows then it is always best to start with a dual-boot (with Windows) so that the person can go back into Windows whenever they like and just adapt gradually. At first they will probably stay in Windows all the time but eventually they find Ubuntu faster for almost everything. If your wife has a separate machine then obviously use 8.04 rather than 10.04 until this issue is resolved. Any new install of Ubuntu needs this page for sorting the multimedia https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu Most people new to Ubuntu appreciate this link for guidance https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows perhaps this one for humour and to understand the ethics/philosophy a little better http://linux.oneandoneis2.org/LNW.htm I hope something here helps but also i hope this issue does get resolved soon. I haven't tried John's answer but 2 people have so far said ti doesn't work so i suspect i probably wont have any luck with this either Good luck and regards from Tom :) -- unable to get stream from http://www.fs.fed.us/outdoors/naturewatch/eaglecam.html https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/579685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
