I'll list all symptoms that may or may not be related to my problem, please tell me how I can provide you with further informations on what the problem could be - or if a symptom is not caused by my root problem, that is: 3D-Accelleration of my NVidia card doesn't seem to work properly. I have a Geforce 6600, and ever since I've used the "hardware driver" offered by Ubuntu, I have this problem. Currently I'm using Lucid. I've never used anything else than the Gnome Desktop Symptoms are: 1) Applications like the screensaver "Hyperspace", "Stellarium" or "Google Earth" rarely have frame rates that I can work with. Sometimes everything is ok, but mostly they run at less than 0.5 fps 2) Some Applications - so far Gimp and pgAdmin3 - sometimes crash the desktop effects.
