Till, unfortunately it sounds a lot more skin to this bug than the other
two. In fact, it sounds almost identical to the issue I'm having, with
the sole exception that I reconnect to the printer directly through USB
(which seems mildly irrelevant at this point). I've already posted on
the forum and there seem to be at least two other people having the same
issue with the same printer. Repost:

>I have an Epson Stylus S21. It works like a charm under 9.10 (tested by
booting from LiveUSB), but refuses to print under Ubuntu/Lubuntu (also
booted from LiveUSB). It recognises the printer and, at least
supposedly, installs it. Once I try printing a document, it says that
the printing is going fine, but never actually prints anything. It's
obviously sending something to the printer, because I can hear the
cartridge moving and the little green indicator light keeps blinking.
Once the blinking and the movement stop, Ubuntu simply reports that the
printing job was completed successfully.

In retrospect, I'd like to add that the "printing progress" percentage
goes up gradually as the indicator diode keeps blinking. It never
actually grabs the paper though. (if you like, I can send you a video
:P)
