Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Sometimes it crashes at apparently random times, though there must be
some underlying cause. I can duplicate this problem anytime if I boot
up and change the screensaver to "Ant"... the computer will crash every
time. It will also crash if I go to power management and have it turn
off the monitor.

The screen then alternates between vertical black and white bars on the top
half of the screen, followed by a screen with some error messages on it.
The screen says:

(process:281): GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)
       * Setting sensors limits
<red>*</red> Speech-dispatcher configured for user sessions
       * Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsd
<red>*</red> PulseAudio configured for per-user sessions
       * Enabling additional executable binary formats binfmt-support
* Checking battery state

I was unable to print log files since the computer completely freezes
and forces me to do a hard reboot. Below is a list of my hardware, just
in case that helps. I have Googled the error messages and found other
people having the same problem. Some turned off the splash screen.
Some said it had to do with pulse-audio. I've turned off the
screensaver AND power management, but sometimes the computer just
crashes anyway.
