I press Install (top item) the progress-line start after couple of seconds I see black screen
It seems as no linux engine in computer I'm pressing Num lock or cps lock - no effect I can eject DVD simply by pressing button on face of DVD-RW device (If *ubuntu loaded it requires 'eject' command for this action) I have suggested than this workstation has hardware problem and the included into distro memtest 1.65 found memory error at 314th MB of RAM. I think than kernel found memory error and wrote 'kernel panic' message but message was hidden by black screen of splash. I'm sorry if disturb you if hardware problem was reasoned it. but *ubuntu have incompatibility problem with this hardware. I took very similar workstation (945PVS/Radeon X700/2G RAM/SATA; I have exchanged hdd between this wst and previous and Vista x64 RC1 started successfully) but 15'' Acer AL506. There is incompatibility in main use case (Is default selected 'Install' main use case?) ==================================== the kubuntu 6.10 x64 DVD could not start X server /var/log/Xorg.0.log says: primary Device is PCI 01:00:0 Candidate "Device" Section is "... RAdeon X700 bla-bla-bla" ATI: PCI Mach64 in slot 1:0:0 could not be detected ATI: PCI Mach64 in slot 1:0:1 could not be detected No devices detected Fatal server error: no screens found ==================================== kubuntu 7.04 Herd 5 x64 CD wow! the distro disappears on this second machine! Does the top item of splash have debug or trace mode? is there a way to get trace messages? Now I confirm next problem: 1) Intel 945PVS + ATI Radeon X700 PCIE + LCD monitor are incopatible with 7.04 x64; and 6.10 x64 cannot start X by default 2) xubuntu 7.04 Herd 5 x86 CD works (there are some minor display bugs but I see the rat) on this hardware 3) I installed early edubuntu and xubuntu 6.06 on Intel blade (integrated video and EMT64 without VT) and it works I haven't free PPC machine I'm interesting what I can see on PPC :) -- The splash programs fail if videosystem uses DVI https://launchpad.net/bugs/92314 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
