The card is behaving much better, it almost works. The contortions that I used to go through have been much reduced, but there are still problems. When the computer boots up, if the card is installed, there is about a 50% chance that it will not work, despite being recognized in alsamixer. When I close my program and re-open it, there is a greater chance that the card will not be recognized. When I boot up without the card, and then pop it in, it usually works.
