Could you stop adding such comments to this bug? Nobody is limited your
choice, you are free to install notification-daemon which is the one
which was used before or to build your own version of notify-osd if you
want to change this one. That's open source you have the source code and
can do what you need or want there. Dictating other people how they
should write the software they work on during their free time is not
constructive. The notify-osd hackers have made clear they are not
interested in having their software doing that, if you want it just look
for an alternative solution nobody is blocking you
