Hi Bryce. I started my old desktop that I hadn't used since last September which allowed me to solve the problem. It has an nvidia geforce 7600 graphics card. I booted the Lucid Netbook alpha 2 live cd and observed that the AOC monitor was set to 1920 by 1080 and perfectly visible. I attach the Nvidia.Xorg.log. In this log file is the mode setting for 1920 by 1080. I then booted the lucid live cd on my EEE PC 701 with its Intel 915 graphics. Using the display applet in the system menu the highest usable resolution is 1440 by 900. I attach eeepc.Xorg.log. 1920 and 1680 give a scrambled picture. I decided to copy the mode line for 1920 from the working nvidia configuration Xorg.log: "1920x1080_nv" 138.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 1111 +hsync -vsync. I used xrandr newmode, addmode and output mode to change to this setting on the EEE PC. The result is a perfectly visible screen on the AOC LCD at its maximum resolution.
