Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
Opening new bug per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- screensaver/+bug/397892/comments/54 Screen never fades, unlike bug 491926. Running "gnome-screensaver- command -a" makes my screen fade and the Pictures Folder display, but it doesn't happen automatically even after hours of inactivity at night. I have XScreensaver installed but not running (an attempt to customize my screensavers further). System/Preferences/Appearance/Visual Effects is set to None on my GNOME desktop. This has happened for months, and I've rebooted several times after the release of bug fix package gnome-screensaver - 2.28.0-0ubuntu3.1. I don't think I have any GTK context menus open. I sometimes run VNC, VirtualBox and Remote Desktop Viewer, but not right now and not all night.
