Switching between the vts works only sometimes, so it is not a reliable workaround. The graphic was normal after a resume on karmic, even with version 190 of the nvidia drivers. I've tried the linux kernel 2.6.33 (from the ubuntu kernel archive) on lucid, but it didn't work either.
