Hi, without i915.modset=0 the machine does not boot to graphic screen (since Karmic) I think the message Unknown parameter `modset' when using i915.modset=0 in grub is a known and documented problem of grub that first parse it wrong but then pass it correctly. This is what I found about it when googling some time ago.
So I cannot do what you suggest as I cannot have a terminal without i915.modset=0 I think mouse come back as soon as there is an event that ask it to change shape. In my case when typing in a terminal the mouse has to changes from (invisible) pointer to a (visible) vertical bar and this solve the problem. When going out of the terminal the mouse change to a visible pointer. On 23 janv. 10, at 23:28, Geir Ove Myhr wrote: > Nicolas, is it really the parameter i915.modset=0 that makes the > difference?
