This bug report does not seem to me to be related to the layout keyboard conflict - as none of the workarounds actually work when you have the layout switching set. I think this bug is a problem with Compiz (as obviously disabling it works as a solution for some people).
I changed the dups of bug #300470 and bug #322068, both of which seem to be about the layout switching conflict, to be dupes of bug #36812 that is linked to the relevant X.org bug.
