Hi , Sorry to take so long in replying to you , I was at church this morning .
And also thank you for your welcome to the 'Ubuntu Community'. Unfortunately the solution you asked me to try did not work . I tried to download from 3 other servers and the response was always the same , the download stops at 5% . PAX , John. ________________________________ From: Draycen DeCator <ddeca...@gmail.com> To: johnpendlebur...@yahoo.co.uk Sent: Sun, 24 January, 2010 8:20:02 Subject: [Bug 511632] Re: cannot download gstreamer0.10plugins bad Thanks for responding so quickly. I would just like to take a moment to say "Welcome to the Ubuntu community!" As for your bug, I think we are looking at a problem with the mirror server that your computer is attempting to download from. Could you please go to System -> Administration -> Software Sources. Once the window opens up, you should find the "Ubuntu Software" tab selected. One of the options is a drop-down menu next to "Download from:" If you click on that drop-down menu, you will find the option of "Other..." Could you please select "Other..." and choose a different server that is located relatively close to your location? Afterwards, you can close that window. You should then open a terminal and run 'sudo apt-get update' (without the quotation marks) so your computer will get the information it needs from those servers. After that, could you try once more to download the gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad package? Hopefully the download will be successful. If it is, then you can either choose to return the Software Sources settings to their default, or you can leave them changed, it doesn't matter. If it does not work, then please try one or two more servers, just in case you happened to choose the server your computer was already trying to download from. After you have tried the above solution, please leave a comment letting us know whether or not it worked so we know if we can close this report or if we must investigate it further.
