I'm on a Dell Studio 15 with an Intel GM45 Mobile 4 Series graphics card too. Most things work pretty well, but VMware disables 3D acceleration because my graphics card is unknown, and runs extremely slowly. Both the VGA and the internal screen show up as unclaimed on lshw
