Hi, I just installed 9.10 on a new consumer laptop, an HP DV4-1548dx. It has the above problem, with integrated audio and also with selecting a bluetooth headset.
My Dell Mini9, with 9.10 (remix) works fine with Ekiga. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a hardware problem. I tried to remove pulse audio as above, but the sound applet said it could not find any devices, so I installed ubuntu-desktop again.
