I have a Lenovo X200 laptop running Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04.

This bug was just that...annoying.

I removed splash from the menu.lst file and it appears to have
successfully resolved the problem. Shutdown is now in a handful of
second. Previously the machine would take 90+ seconds and default to the
log-in window. Then it would take at least that to shutdown from there.

I also have Kubuntu Karmic 9.10 on another Lenovo X200 laptop. This bug
is not evident.
