The correct quirk for your hardware is already present,
model=hp-dv6736. You do not need specify this model parameter in
/etc/modprobe.d/*. It is built into the driver.

Auto-switching of mics is already present via the l-b-m-a-k-g package.
You probably need to artificially boost the gain using the
volume-control applet. See Sound Preferences > Input (tab) > Input
volume (slide to right beyond the 100% marker).

When using the command-line alsa tools, you should use the plug
interface, which means:
arecord -Dplughw:NVidia

not:
arecord -Dhw:0,0
