Thanks for reporting the problem. Do you have grub 1 instead of grub 2 installed?
I had the same error message after updating and restarting but I think that in my case there is not a real problem. While installing updates I had open the little terminal which shows the details of the installation process. At some point it said that grub is not installed or something like that and asked if I want to install it now. I have a dedicated grub partition with grub 1 (I use it to boot Hardy Heron and windows except Karmic) so I answered no and I just edited the menu.lst file. As I can see, the new kernel is installed and works with no problem. In your case, can you boot the new kernel. If not, can you find the new kernel in your '/boot' directory? -- package linux-image-2.6.31-15-generic 2.6.31-15.50 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/487096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
