Confirmed on T42, the tpb package wont start with user permissions. Try out "tpb -d" as user, nothing happens and the keys wont work without any osd reaction. Then try "sudo tpb -d", now the keys are working and the osd shows all usage well.
The bug is aside the permissions for tpb, found no solution as above ugly workaround.
